We accomplished a lot of activities during our outreach at the Dumagat tribal grounds of Sitio Paydas, Brgy. Daraitan, Tanay.
1. We officially turned over the “Tawid Ilog” school boat and life vests to be used by the elementary students of Sitio Paydas to cross nearby Sitio Manggahan where the school is located. As a livelihood alternative, the boat shall be used to ferry tourists as long as there is no class.
2. Kids and parents were fed Happy Meals from McDonald’s sponsored by McDo Talavera, Nueva Ecija. The rest were treated with pansit and puto prepared by Chairman Jo. PP Benjie provided additional ice cream for the kids.
3. The group later on trekked the riverside and visited the tribal community to check the living conditions of the residents. We may pursue future construction activities as a long term project though maybe during the term of PE James Olayvar. For this RY, we can provide badly needed medicine and maybe one last medical and dental mission.
4. Finally, we have established an agreement with the Sitio Paydas chieftain and constituents through an MoU to form one of the few indigenous Rotary Community Corps (RCC). This is a dream project of Past District Governor Francis Rivera and we hope to register them the soonest possible time.
With that, I would like to say thanks to our two hardworking members : PN Tiso Requinta and Chair Jo Florendo for making this very memorable project possible. Special thanks also go to PP Benjie, PP Ric and FP Andy for attending the turnover.
