Area of Focus: Disease Prevention and Treatment
The Rotary Club of Timog – Quezon City conducted its first medical mission in its adopted Barangay, Brgy. Pasong Tamo, Quezon City on August 13, 2023. The services offered were free circumcision (tule), tooth extraction (bunot), warts removal, and eye check-up with free reading glasses.
The team was composed of an all-star cast led by Past District Governor Rey David who headed the circumcision area, operating on 26 of 56 boys all by himself. Past President Benjie Tan Alonzo single-handedly manned the warts removal section with around 40 patients served. President-Elect Dr. James Olaylar, DMD and his team also served 60 dental patients. Volunteer doctors from Quezon City General Hospital were able to serve 150 patients in the medical consultation area. Finally, HCP Jigs de Belen and classmate Dr. R-Jay Javier were able to check up 120 patients in the optometry section.
It was just another day of service for RC Timog, whose strength lies in the medical field, with its great roster of well-known medical practitioners.
Up next is the medical mission in San Bartolome, Quezon City which shall include X-ray and ECG services.
